Teeth Whitening/Bleaching
White and bright teeth are the most effective part of a nice, esthetic smile. People are looking at the smile and teeth colour involuntarily while they are talking to eachother. That's why bleaching procedures has become one of the most popular treatments in the world.
Teeth whitening is a chemical procedure, which is done with a special led light and peroxide gel at the dental clinics, or you can do it by yourself at home with a plaque and whitening gel.
What is the difference between home type and office type whitening?
Home type whitening is a long, tiring procedure, which people cannot resist usually. Of you want to whiten your teeth at home, you need to have special transparent bleaching plaques, a low density peroxide gel and time.
You put the gel into the plaque, then put it to your mouth and wait with plaque for 6 or 8 hours.
You need to do this procedure about 4 or 6 times -depends on your teeth colour- at one week intervals, to get the good result. Also you may have teeth and gum sensitivity by doing it yourself at home.
Office type whitening is quite different from the home type. It is done only by proffesionals at the dental clinics.
It takes at least one hour to whiten your teeth, you can see the results instantly and of course, you don't need to take any plaque into your mouth for a long time.
At the office, first, your teeth are cleaned by the dentist. Then your teeth gum is
covered with a special gum barrier gel, and it is hardened with the LED light to prevent the gum sensitivity. If you have sensitive enamel, potassium nitrate gels are applied to your enamel and then peroxide gel is applied to all your teeth. Then the dentist set the light onto your teeth. The light starts a chemical reaction between your teeth and the whitening gel, and your teeth colour starts to change. It takes about 15-20 minutes to gel's work is done.
Depending on the own teeth colour, the whitening procedure can be done in 2 or 3 times in one appointment, and you can see the result even at the end of the first 20 minutes. If you need more than 3 times whitening, you must get a second appointment after one week, not to harm to your teeth.
